TOBACCO CESSATION PROGRAM

Pioneer’s Wellplace subsidiary administers a free Tobacco Cessation Program, which provides toll-free access to qualified, trained smoking cessation counselors, 24 hours per day, 365 days per year. These specially trained counselors will:

  • Discover a client’s tobacco use methods and frequency;
  • Explain various approaches and methods to assist in the quitting process;
  • Provide information and encouragement to quit;
  • Help create a cessation plan that is catered to a client’s individual needs;
  • Locate support services and other resources in a client’s geographical area;
  • Provide literature and other information about nicotine replacement products;
  • Speak directly with a client’s physician, dentist, or pharmacist about the cessation services; and,
  • Follow up with a client at regular intervals to check on the client’s progress.

For organizational clients, Wellplace can cater the Tobacco Cessation Program to provide clients with a customized website, which contains the following information:

  • 24/7/365 online access to Tobacco Cessation Program counselors;
  • Tobacco cessation articles, fact sheets, and self-care guides;
  • Interactive client evaluations;
  • “Ask the Tobacco Cessation Expert” feature where clients may submit questions to counselors and receive confidential responses;
  • Online support groups;
  • Links to governmental and non-profit support sites; and,
  • Information about local providers and community resources.
