Adult Services
Harbor Oaks Hospital offers Inpatient and Partial Hospitalization Programs
for adults ages 18 and older. Under the medical direction of a psychiatrist,
each patient receives an individualized treatment plan, which is implemented
by a multi-disciplinary team of professionals including psychologists,
social workers, psychiatric nurses, educational specialists and activity
therapists.
Daily program provides a controlled and structured environment for
patients having emotional and behavioral difficulties. Through individual,
group, family and expressive therapies, patients learn healthy behaviors
to cope with problems.
Children and Adolescent Services
Harbor Oaks Hospital offers inpatient and partial hospitalization programs
for children ages 5 to 12 and adolescents ages 13 to 17. Under the medical
direction of a child/adolescent psychiatrist, each patient receives
an individualized treatment plan which is implemented by a multi-disciplinary
team of professionals including psychologists, social workers, psychiatric
nurses, educational specialists and activity therapists and discharge
planners.
These programs provide a controlled and structured environment for
children and adolescents having emotional and behavioral difficulties.
Through individual, group, family and expressive therapies, patients
learn healthy behaviors to cope with problems.
Dual Diagnosis
Harbor Oaks Hospital provides a secure environment for patients presenting
with suicidal/homicidal ideation or psychotic symptoms. Many adults
and youth who suffer from emotional disorders, abuse alcohol and/or
illicit drugs as a means of coping with their emotional problems. The
Dual Diagnosis patient requires coordinated use of psychiatric and substance
abuse interventions.
Harbor Oaks Hospital provides the following Dual Diagnosis
care for adult and adolescents:
- Acute adult inpatient care
- Acute child/adolescent inpatient care
- Partial hospitalizaiton
- A secure environment to prevent self-destructive impulses
- Services Based upon psychiatric and substance abuse recovery principles,
including relapse prevention and self-help orientation
- Psychiatric, substance abuse, physical, social and family evaluations
- Psychotherapy

Family Involvement
Harbor Oaks we recognize that family involvement is essential to recovery.
Through the use of individual family sessions and involvement in groups,
the family is educated on conflict resolution, effective communications
and parenting skills.

Aftercare
Discharge Planning is initiated upon admission to ensure the supportive
environment necessary for recovery is in place upon discharge. Through
ongoing communication with the referring professional, the patient experiences
a smooth transition to partial hospitalization or back to school and
home with supportive outpatient counseling.
